Nestled in the heart of Redmond, Oregon, Aiwa Asian Restaurant is a vibrant dining destination that offers an authentic taste of Asian cuisine with a modern twist. Specializing in a wide array of dishes from Chinese-inspired classics to bold, flavorful takes on traditional favorites, Aiwa presents a menu that is both diverse and enticing for any palate.
The moment you step inside, you are greeted by a welcoming atmosphere defined by soft, calming lighting that enhances the relaxed ambiance without ever overshadowing the star of the show: the food. Whether you are dining in or opting for takeout, Aiwa consistently delivers dishes brimming with rich, layered flavors, served piping hot and crafted with evident care.
The extensive menu is a true celebration of Asian culinary craftsmanship. Standout dishes include the La Kung Pao Chicken, renowned for its perfect balance of heat and savory sweetness, and the Mongolian Beef, tender slices simmered in a luscious, slightly smoky sauce that clings to every bite. For seafood lovers, the Salt & Pepper Calamari offers a crispy, tantalizing texture, while shrimp enthusiasts can indulge in options like the Kung Pao Shrimp or the subtly nuanced Cashew Shrimp, each dish delivering an exciting interplay of flavors and textures.
One of Aiwa’s greatest strengths is the depth and variety in its beef offerings. From the fiery kick of Szechuan Beef to the sweet and tangy notes of Orange Beef, each entrée is perfectly cooked and thoughtfully plated. Customers have also praised the perfectly seasoned egg foo young varieties, whether classic pork, shrimp, or vegetarian.
Beyond the food, the attentive and friendly staff elevate the overall experience. Regulars appreciate how management, including owner Amanda, takes the time to connect with guests, ensuring each meal hits the right spot—even tailoring spice levels on request without relying on MSG. This personal touch makes dining at Aiwa feel both special and personalized, cultivating a warm rapport between kitchen and table.
That said, some patrons note that the generous portion sizes can occasionally be overwhelming, suggesting that half portions might enhance flexibility for diners looking to sample more flavors. Additionally, while the prices tilt towards the upper mid-range, combo meals offer excellent value, particularly for groups eager to savor several dishes without compromise.
Though busy nights can result in longer waits, the overall consensus is that the delicious, thoughtfully prepared food and the inviting ambiance make every moment worth it. Whether you're craving a comforting bowl of hot and sour soup to start, or indulging in the complex layers of General Tso’s Beef, Aiwa Asian Restaurant stands as an exemplary choice for those seeking authentic Asian flavors paired with genuine hospitality in Redmond.
The staff are super friendly. Food is amazing, full of flavor and piping hot. The restaurant is beautiful with calm relax lighting. Only thing that could make our experience better was not being surrounded but rude and entitled customers (meaning multiple customers at separate tables) harassing the staff. Very disappointed in grown adults behavior in a public place, but I won't hold this against the restaurant, not their fault. Don't worry bad attitude costomers wont stop us from coming back, i will definitely come back for the food and sevice. We got the combo #1 (with BBQ pork) and #3 (with spring roll)
Food, service and the atmosphere were all on point. The food was cooked to perfection. And you get a fair deal for the money. Nothing negative could be said about our visit. We will be back for sure.
Three of us had dinner at Aiwa Saturday evening, and our experience was very enjoyable. The food was excellent - we each started with hot and sour soup, then three separate entrees - Mother's Chicken, Dry Stirfried Green Beans with chicken shrip, and one I can't remember the name of. We liked them all, but the portions are FAR too large. We'd like it if one could place half-size orders with some slight price reduction!! Service was very good too. We will be back.
This is a recently opened restaurant in Redmond. Very friendly staff, the owner Amanda even came out to ask how our calamari was and if we had any input on what to do differently. She also asked about the spice level of our dishes; if we thought it was too spicy or could use more. I see some reviewers stating the food is bland, but I did not find it so. Its the fact that they do not cook with MSG in anything, which is an unhealthy flavor we have been accustomed to with many other Chinese food spots over the years. Huge portions, the shrimp and chicken both very juicy and tender. Time from ordering to being served was well within reason for extremely fresh, hand cut vegetables. Also a big plus for me - nothing drowning in sauce. Many condiments come with the dishes, and you can alter the spice levels of anything according to your comfort levels. My wife stated the bathrooms were immaculate, and the dining room was beautifully adorned and clean as well.
Great restaraunt! The food was very tasty, and the menu did have a variety of dishes. A little expensive, but you can get around that with the combo meals on the back, especially for bigger groups. The best part by far was our waitress, boo. She was nice, and attended to the things we needed without being to pushy. The only reason why it is 4 stars rather then 5 is because of the massive wait. A 40 minute wait at the table for an order of 3 meals is kind of crazy. The fact that 2 different groups of people came in after us, and still got their food before us was the big thing. But, with the great service by boo, and the good taste of the food offset that by much. Would definetely go again!
Food was amazing and the customer service was unbeaten. Placed an order through door dash, somewhere along the lines they had received the wrong order and things got mixed up. The restaurant themselves went out of their way to not only correct the order themselves but also bring it to our home themselves. Will absolutely be coming back just not with door dash.
I don't understand why this place doesn't get more business. The food was amazing, and the presentation was great. The inside of the building is really clean and well maintained. My wife and I absolutely LOVED their crab ragoons. We went there on a whim and will definitely be going again.
